Autonomy-based Research Institute

POSTECH Basic Science Research Institute (BSRI) was selected as an awardee of the Grant of the Autonomy-based Research Institute presided by National Research Foundation of Korea(NRF). The program runs from the 1st of June, 2021 to the 31st of May, 2030. BSRI is running its program according to the purpose and the regulation of the Autonomy-based Research Institute Grant. The purpose of the Autonomy-based Research Institute is to foster a university-affiliated research institute, which has good management capacity for supporting basic science as a research hub. To achieve the goals of the Autonomy-based Research Institute, POSTECH BSRI is supporting creative and challenging projects of the basic sciences, the projects having an intermediate to long term growth potential, independent study of promising postdoctoral researchers by designing the small-scale seed programs of support.
The autonomy-based programs of BSRI consists of the Basic Science Research Proposals, which support researches of on-campus basic science researchers, and the Academic Exchange Activity Programs, which support academic exchange programs of basic science researchers such as conferences, seminars, visitor programs and interdisciplinary study programs. Even before selected as the Autonomy-based Research Institute, BSRI already had these programs, which are further developed and refined.
